Our why
Access to opportunity is not evenly distributed.
As a Serbian-American student studying in the United States, I’ve seen firsthand how much early exposure, strong institutions, and supportive networks can shape what students are able to pursue. At the same time, I’ve remained closely connected to Serbia, where many students with equal potential lack access to the same opportunities.
This gap is not about ability—it’s about access.
There are organizations in Serbia doing exceptional work to support students, but many of them remain underfunded or overlooked by a broader, global network of support. At the same time, there are individuals and communities willing to contribute, but without a clear, direct way to do so.
Sava Bridge was created to connect the two.
By partnering with a small number of high-impact organizations, we aim to direct meaningful support toward programs that expand access to opportunity for students—starting in Serbia, and growing beyond.
We partner with a select group of high-impact organizations and direct funding toward their existing programs. 100% of funds raised through this platform are directed to our partner organizations.
Petnica Science Center

Located in western Serbia, Petnica Science Center is one of the country’s leading independent educational institutions, providing advanced, hands-on learning experiences for highly motivated students.
Each year, over 2,000 students from across Serbia and beyond participate in Petnica’s programs—ranging from intensive workshops and research projects to interdisciplinary science camps. Unlike traditional education systems, Petnica focuses on developing critical thinking, problem-solving, and independent inquiry through real-world exploration.
Petnica places a strong emphasis on identifying and supporting talented students from underserved and regional communities, ensuring that access to high-quality educational experiences is not limited by geography or resources.
Our Mission
Despite its impact, Petnica Science Center operates with a significant funding gap, with annual operating costs of approximately €1 million, while consistently receiving less than three-quarters of the funding required. This shortfall can limit the number of students able to participate and constrain the expansion of programs. Additional support directly contributes to increasing access—particularly for students from underserved regions—while enabling upgrades to research facilities, scientific equipment, and learning resources. It also supports the development of new programs across a wide range of disciplines, allowing more students to engage in advanced, hands-on learning. All support directed through this initiative goes toward sustaining and expanding Petnica’s programs, ensuring that more students have access to high-quality, transformative educational experiences.
